
Vietnam-based Nam Kim Steel will evaluate the feasibility of producing tin-plated steel for the packaging industry and nickelcoated tin-plated steel for electric vehicle battery casings, the company said in a Nov. 28 exchange filing.
The products will serve the domestic and export markets, Nam Kim Steel said.
In a resolution, the board directed the company’s general director to present a proposal outlining plans for selecting joint venture partners with technical expertise in the industry.
The plan will also include how Nam Kim Steel can maximize existing equipment and invest in new and modern facilities to produce products for the industrial and food packaging industry,the company said.
Nam Kim Steel’s production lines include a continuous pickling line with a capacity of 1 million metric tons/year, two cold rolling mills with a capacity of 1 million mt/year, and a continuous galvanized line with a capacity of 1.2 million mt/year, according to the company’s 2024 annual report.
