Domestic First! Tangsteel Launches 2GPa Super Anti-Hydrogen Embrittlement Hot-Forming Steel

Recently, Hebei Iron and Steel Group's TANGSHAN IRON AND STEEL CO., LTD successfully rolled out China's first 2GPa super anti-hydrogen embrittlement hot-forming steel. This breakthrough material boasts significantly enhanced resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and is slated for use in manufacturing single and composite structural components for passenger vehicle bodies. It not only supports the industry's lightweighting goals but also greatly enhances vehicle safety performance.

Hydrogen embrittlement occurs when hydrogen atoms mix into a metal during solidification and subsequently aggregate at metal defects to form hydrogen molecules. The immense internal pressure created can lead to cracking in the material. If such materials are used in critical automotive components like crash beams, it could jeopardize vehicle safety.
