NBS: China's Crude Steel Output Drops 4.4% YoY to 960.81 Million Mt in 2025

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, in December, the output of crude steel, pig iron and steel products in China was 68.18 million tons, 60.72 million tons and 115.31 million tons respectively, down 10.3%, 9.9% and 3.8% year-on-year respectively.

The average daily output was 2.1994 million tons, 1.9587 million tons and 3.7197 million tons respectively, with a decrease of 5.6%, 5.7% and 3.7% compared with the previous period.

From January to December 2025, the output of crude steel, pig iron and steel products in China was 960.81 million tons, 836.04 million tons and 144.612 million tons respectively, down 4.4%, down 3% and up 3.1% year-on-year.

According to calculations, in December, the supply of crude steel and steel products in China was 55.24 million tons and 104.53 million tons respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 10.35 million tons and 6.23 million tons respectively, representing a decline of 15.8% and 5.6% respectively.

From January to December 2025, the supply of crude steel and steel products was 826.45 million tons and 1,333.16 million tons respectively, a decrease of 63.49 million tons and an increase of 34.43 million tons compared with the same period last year, representing a decline of 7.1% and an increase of 2.7% respectively.
