Deepsea prices for HMS 1/2 80:20 fell in the week ended April 26 following a lack of buying interest and lower offers, with offers trending at $420-$430/mt CFR South Korea and CFR Vietnam for HMS 1/2 80:20 bulk cargoes.
Tradable levels were said to be in the $410-$420/mt CFR range but "there is no interest by mill side. If mills bid at $405/mt CFR, it just means that they are telling suppliers not to bother offering," said a South Korean trader.
"I think all steel mills just want to focus on domestic scrap or small vessel imports, it is easier to change prices compared with imports of big bulk shipment," said a Vietnam mill source.
The weekly spot CFR East Asia HMS 1/2 80:20 price was assessed at $410/mt April 26, down $20/mt on the week, with South Korea as the basis port, according to Platts assessments.
