China’s Steel Exports Surpass 10 Million Tons Again in Sep; Rising Trade Barriers May Curb Q4 Growth

China’s Steel Exports Reached 10.465 Million Tons in September, Up 3.1% Year on Year

According to customs data, China exported 10.465 million tons of steel in September, an increase of 310,000 tons (3.1%) year on year and 955,000 tons more than in August, with the daily average export volume up 13.7% month on month.

Steel imports reached 548,000 tons, down 1.1% year on year but up 4.8% from the previous month, with the daily average import volume up 13.3% month on month.

From January to September 2025, China exported 87.955 million tons of steel, an increase of 9.2%, while imports totaled 4.532 million tons, down 12.6% year on year
