Meanwhile, the Southeast Asian rebar market remained quiet amid the Chinese Golden Week holidays, with participants expecting to return at the earliest on Oct. 9.
Platts assessed 16-32 mm diameter BS4449 Grade 500 rebar at $467/mt CFR Southeast Asia on Oct. 2, unchanged on the day.
Offers for Turkish cargoes remained at $480-$485/mt CFR Singapore theoretical weight, with tradable ranges cited at $465-$470/mt CFR on Oct. 2.
Slow construction activity in Singapore kept demand for finished steel products thin, with site inventories said to be "sufficient."
"Construction activity is still around 50% of pre-pandemic levels, so stocks have not been used up quickly," a Singapore- based stockist said. "Hopefully activity will pick up further this month and help out sales too."
